Produced for the 2008 Adidas “Sport in Art” exhibition, Addictive TV created this video installation from clips out of the Adidas archive. What you see is exactly what you hear. Sportive was made entirely from sports images and their sounds. The only addition was a human heartbeat. “Sportive” is currently being exhibited at the Today Art Museum in Beijing. First exhibited at the Museum of contemporary Art in Shanghai, the exhibition, featuring over 70 artists, has been touring cities across China all this year, including at the Museum of Modern Art in Nanjing and the Luxun Art Academy in Shenyang. The piece is also currently being exhibited in Paris at the Cité des Sciences for the exhibition “Sport & Numérique”.
Bass Kleph has teamed up with a new artist Anthony Paul to bring you one of Vacation Records’ catchiest tracks to date called ‘Helium‘. The cut up synths slamming beats are topped perfectly with a refreshing, off the hook vocal by the boys themselves and yes they did inhale helium to record it. Now out with new remixes from Micky Slim, Adam Bozzetto and Wolfgang Gartner which is my favorite.
Following up hot on the heels of DJinxx’s ‘Incarnation‘, Bedrock (label) are ready to drop their latest smash. This time it’s Bedrock regular, Israeli DJ and producer Guy J. 2007 was his most active year to date. A host of big releases (Isreality EP, Fade, Agent Blue, Amsterdam), were backed up by some extra special remixes that included J Yellow & Astrid Suryanto’s ‘To The Top‘, Sasha’s ‘Mongoose‘ and Dubfunk’s ‘Mandala‘. His remix of ‘To The Top’ found extra support when it was was picked by MANDY to appear on their Fabric 38 compilation. Along with the 2007 productions were his first for Bedrock. ‘Night Loss/Save Me‘ were an instant success. As result of this success, John Digweed is now preparing for the release of Guy’s debut album ‘Esperanza’, which will hit the shelves in September! Having been already featured on Digweed’s latest ‘Transitions’ compilation, the time is now right to unleash the first single from that album ‘Geko‘. As with all Guy J productions, it is built around beautiful uplifting melodies and atmospheric moments. Remute delivers the remix. Minimal-tech beats open it up, which are then layered with the original synths, creating a steady build through the first half of the track. It then turns on you, bearing its teeth, and with a driving synth, powers its way through the rest of the mix. Geko is a beautiful release and one that again shows that Bedrock are committed to delivering fantastic, melodic masterpieces.
