Well.. I think that if you make whole the flyer yourself the result is much better then just taking others their pre-made backgrounds?

Yes, photo shop would be what your looking for duran500
GIMP is a free version, but you need alot of skills
You can just download some of the packs i have posted.
They will make things easier, then you can just plonk your details over the top
