Thumbs up BeatMatching...My way

ok so hers the deal...i run on cdj 800 mk2s

for example .. my technique of beat matching..it mite be a bit dodgy..BUT its amazing and does the job quick..

Say for example..

if thers a track playing on deck A thats got 129 bmp

and if thers a track playing on deck B thats on 130 bmp..

i wana get the 129 up to 130..

just increase the pitch buy 80%..

Please note..80% on a pionner player is exactly 1 bmp !

hope u understood what im on about here..

Even if you get it spot on mate, it will still eventually go out of beat, learn to ride the pitch, there is no magic way to beatmatch, just use your ears.
If you don't know what i mean, youtube it.

It's not even explained very well, and it wouldn't work.
Also, how do you know that Mr Prydz does it?,
I've seen lots of dj's beat match, they all ride the pitch, and are amazingly fast and good.

yeah ur both right, one thing ur forgetting Jon is that not all songs are an exact bpm one may be 126.545bpm in which case your method will not work.

if for instance you do happen to have two songs that are exactly on beat. you can use this method, but the magic number aint .80% mate try .78% its all simple math really. (good thing i remembered sumtin from high school)...lol well its sumthin like .7865 or sumthin but most decks dont give ya that much accuracy, and .78 will kepp em in time for a good 1:30 without even touching the platter.

but yeah ur right gunnie my man, mixing is all about listening to the music and pitch riding is by far the best way of getting two songs on beat.. reliably!

yeh i do agree...

but it does the most of the bit of beatmatching...if its still off beat..it should b verry minor..i would fine tune it and get it sorted then...

incorrect...

In house when you beatmatch it goes in incriments of + 0.4% , +0.8% , +1.2% , +2.0% .

Example i want to mix a 127bpm song into a 130bpm song therefore i must increase the song on 127bpm to +2.0%. to make it go 1 bpm faster you need to go to +0.4% and to 129 bpm you would need to get it to +1.2%

Its not about getting it in time , when im mixxing i can hold 2 mix's for more than 3 minutes , one time for the fun of it i put 2 house songs together and they were both 8 minute tracks and i beat matched them and walked off never touched them agian.

Really a good dj rides the jog wheels and pitch you have to hear the beat slipping off before anyone else does because you are suppossed to be the expert.

Fully agree with you, do not have to go pitch and still listen to the track is mixed with play and adjust wheel JOG desired BPM

When i see a video where you can leave the pitch there for 1 minute and not touch it, and keep it perfect, ill start doing it, but i wouldn't think so :P

I will try maybe later tonight. But like i said my way of mixing is wayyy different than what ur saying. I need to hear the mixes and not rely only on 80%.. But i'll try it out and see if ur way is better
