Well, beat matching doesn't impress me so I don't care what tools are used. And I don't watch the DJ perform, I just listen to what he/she is playing. Vinyl, CD, software, whatever--doesn't make the music any different.
Just because anyone can do it, doesn't mean they can do it well.

Listen, a dj is not being paid to beat match a few records. All this talk about software which sync's beats does my head in. If you care more about what a dj is using rather then the actual atmosphere or set he is playing then i'm sorry to say mate but you've lost sight of what dance music is all about. And who ever these dj's are that you say are getting paid but cannot beat match, well, they must be doing something right. I've been mixing for about 6 years now and never miss a beat (maybe once in a blue moon!!) but honestly beat matching is one of the basics of djing. If you cant master that within the first few months you never will. Its not a skill its simple maths.
Good djs play good music. Idiots worry about how they do it. |

yeah it dont matter what you use it how u use it to make the crowd move thats what a dj is, if you have a pair of sticks and bang them together and it makes the crowd move thats pretty good, so if your using serato, vinyl or cd aslong as the crowds into what ur doin it works
that probably sound stupid especially the stick bit but hey lol my 2 cents |

I understand what you mean, but as a producer I could say Ian Carey isn't talented because he uses loops to produce a lot of his music instead of creating all his own drum sequences.
In retrospect, anyone could say that about almost any music producer from the past because instead of using a real drum set they used sampler. In my opinion music software is created because it has the potential to create more opportunities without having to actually own some of the hardware needed. Not everyone learns the same & not everyone does things the same way. Most people don't care how complicated something is they just want to have a good time and enjoy the music. |

That was an example, haha I knew that would be taken outta context. Ian Carey is a great producer, you should quote the whole thing you totally missed the point of my rant.
Nice job having selective reading. It was more of a comparison, that is something I could relate to since I do not DJ. Sounds like you are a big fan of vengeance loops too melvin ![]() |
