Default DJ = Disc Jockey

Yes,but is it "right" to dj with Ableton Live? I mean you can lay out all the tracks for the entire night and then press play...maybe twiddle with effects...for me,it loses something. Maybe I am too "OLD SCHOOL".

Only a matter of time to see a topic like this, I sat here for a while trying to think of some clever paragraph to write, a very insightful argument attempting to show the CD/vinyl DJs that what I do takes some form of talent, and maybe just maybe have them see things through a different perspective.. but to be honest I don't really give a F--- what anyone else thinks about how I or anyone else should DJ or preform.

Its very hard to be humble when someone posts a very asinine topic about how it annoys them that people are doing things differently and a bit easier then they had originally learned it.

haha my point is DEAL WITH IT!! Times change and so does technology my friend,
like it or not it will happen.

I'm usually not this mean about stuff but im tired of being neutral when someone bashes the way I do things.

I think a dj is a person who uses there hands to mix not software.

I started on vinyls , i use cd's also and like if your using a program like serato say example to control your records because you can't be stuffed carrying vinyl anymore , i still consider that djing because the blank time coded vinyl or cd is just a control device off the computer which is exactly the same as putting a cd in or putting a vinyl record on the platter.

Ableton is great for live sets i've seen numerous dj's use it. Its not easy i've mucked around with ableton , i've tried doing a set with it at home i just find it does everything too much automatically , takes the fun away from djing.

Say a producer for example deadmau5 uses ableton , but he produces so many tracks and knows how to order this program so that he can have samples on top of sampling and keep it in time and produce live on the spot which i find interesting.

With technology you have to move with it or you are going to be left behind , sorry to the vinyl record dj's but they are going to stop pressing vinyls only because digital releases are killing the market at the moment.

So your only option left is serato which gives you the same feel but you don't have to remove records.

Me personally in all my life i consider the title DJ a person who can entertain a crowd and read a crowd properly , not just beatmixxing and thinking its cool because in the end of the day the crowd doesn't understand beat mixxing.

Thats my 2 cents worth. prove me wrong.
