That was an example, haha I knew that would be taken outta context. Ian Carey is a great producer, you should quote the whole thing you totally missed the point of my rant.
Nice job having selective reading. It was more of a comparison, that is something I could relate to since I do not DJ. Sounds like you are a big fan of vengeance loops too melvin ![]() |

QTF!
Music matters.. as long as the DJ plays music on bar and mixes flawlessly, it's secondary what he uses to do it! Personally, i prefer playin on CDJs.. playing on laptops is not my thing.. then again, it's the DJ's choice.. ![]() btw, THIS any1? ![]() |

Generally speaking I don't care how they play the music they're playing, but recently I saw 2 rather big DJs in America using what seemed to be a setlist (they occasioanlly would look down at a piece of paper they had with them - not a request list or anything)just going back and forth occasionally from one deck to the other without ever even taking a CD out. (They weren't using a laptop). Seemed like they did everything at home, and I do admit I felt a little cheated. The music was pretty good, but it kind of felt like I paid for a pre-recorded CD played at a club vs. paying to see a live DJ.

I know plenty of djs who use serato and the likes purely for the ease of music storage, and prefering the vinyl touch over cdjs( being able to have tracks that cant be found on vinal using the timecoding) . syncing doesnt even come into it.

i seriously just enjoy a dj that sets the atmosphere and plays the right music.
Any dj that doesnt have fun behind the decks and gets into what he is playing is boring for me. Nothing beats watching a dj do his thing be it on a laptop or by whatever means and he is loving what he is doing and you can see the enjoyment on the dj. worst thing to see is a dj that doesnt crack a smile or is too serious. dj is meant to be fun. Beat mixing is just one part od djing and nothing else. |
