Put simply, this guy is the man. Every track is so pumped on bass steroids you feel like you’re going to lose it. Never heard a bad track from this bloke. Never even heard a mediocore one. Anytime you see his name, download it. Straight dirty electro house, meant for the DANCE FLOOR. It makes you feel good, it makes you want to dance, nothing more to be said. Was the most booked DJ in Russia in 2007 for a reason. Listen up!

Deadmau5 Sample CD – XFRSCD01 Announced!

Posted on 29. Oct, 2008 by Damian.

WooOoTt! After several strenous months of production, Duda and myself our proud to announce the launch of XFRSCD01….

Xfer Records is a label started by Deadmau5 and his longtime friend and studio accomplice Steve Duda for their collaborations, such as BSOD, and WTF? with Tommy Lee and DJ Aero. Their latest CD offering is not a music CD, but rather a sample CD-rom for music producers, featuring a plethora of WAV loops and one-shots, ready to be loaded in to any popular music-making software.

The CD Features 336 Loops at 128 BPM, 425 Kicks, 229 Clap sounds, over 1500 percussive sounds, 322 Hihats, 158 Snare drums, and over 100 Cymbal and Cymbal-effect sounds. 227 synth/tonal sounds composed and engineered by Duda and the mau5 themselves. An extensive amount of gear was used for
the CD-including circuit-bent and analogue drum machines, vintage analogue synths such as Moog and Arp, original acoustic drums and other sounds recorded in various professional studios.  A variety of digital sound sources were used as well for creating new sounds, such as FFT Synthesis, Additive/subtractive synthesis, even custom DSP routines coded by Steve Duda in C++.

“Despite the large amount of sample CDs out there, we saw a niche for one geared towards building blocks of EDM with a twist – this one is royalty-free, so it can be used in original productions with no fear of legal repercussions from the original artists who often are sampled on other CD libraries”, says Steve.  “We tried to make an assortment featuring a variety of sound sources, which aren’t overproduced so they can fit into a production workflow without stamping their own flavor on a mix and being overly-recognizable”.

One thing for certain, the sounds of the XFER Sample CD will be featured on dance tracks for decades to come.

Martin Buttrich – I Lost My Wallet / Again

Posted on 24. Oct, 2008 by EmirS.

Although most people don’t know much about him, as he’s always been in a shadow of other producers and didn’t release much solo releases, Martin Buttrich is undeniably one of the most talented producers, making collaborations with well-known artists like Loco Dice and Timo Maas for years.
His latest release for the Germany’s finest minimal/techno label, Cocoon Recordings, called I Lost My Wallet/Again, will probably cause divided opinions. Although it cannot be denied that both tracks are quality production, most of the listeners will get confused when listening to these two tracks because of their similarity.
The only profound difference is maybe that Again sounds a bit funky, but if you listen carefully, you’ll realise that both are built around the same techy bassline and riff. The breakdown is almost the same, the only difference in the structures of these two is that Again develops faster than I Lost My Wallet, but again I hardly believe that you’ll be able to recognize which one of two is being played if someone pulls this EP from the case.
To conclude, I recommend this release to every minimal techno lover, but I believe Buttrich can do much better.

Yelle rose to fame on MySpace when she posted a song titled ‘Short Dick Cuizi’, dissing Cuizinier, a member of the Parisian hip-hop group TTC. With producer and close friend GrandMarnier, Yelle has recorded a debut album Pop-Up, after her hit single ‘Je Veux Te Voir’ (a finalised version of “Short Dick Cuizi”). The song, which samples the bassline from 20 Fingers’ 1994 club hit Short Dick Man, received heavy airplay on MTV.
Unfortunately I couldn’t get any info on Tepr, but check out his myspace.

Kaskade – Angel On My Shoulder (EDX’s Belo Horizonte At Night Remix)

Posted on 23. Oct, 2008 by rgould2.

A legit remix of Kaskade’s latest. Doesn’t seem fazed at all trying to top his 2 other summer hits ‘Move for me’ and ‘I Remember’. In my books he’s one of the top producers in the world. It is BIG room sound and wouldn’t work at every venue, but for chilling or cruising on the iPod there’s nothing better. And at the right spot, live, he’s a master of the decks. Saw him in the summer and he had a dancefloor of 2,000 people going ballistic. If you have a chance to see him, do it.
